The exhaust system carries combustion gases away from the engine, cleans them through the catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter, and keeps noise within legal limits. On Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles running in the UAE, heat cycling and short city trips are hard on exhaust components — flexible joints crack, gaskets blow, and DPFs clog earlier than they would in cooler climates.

Typical symptoms of a failing exhaust are a loud rasp or drone under acceleration, a rattle from under the floor at idle, a smell of fumes inside the cabin, an illuminated engine light with a catalyst efficiency or DPF fault code, or a sudden drop in fuel economy. A blowing gasket at the manifold is usually loudest from cold and quietens as the metal expands.

Common questions

How do I know if it is the gasket or the pipe? A gasket leak is loudest on a cold start and fades as the engine warms. A cracked pipe or flexi joint stays loud and often gets worse under load.

Can I replace just one section? Yes. JLR exhausts are sectional, so the downpipe, centre section and rear silencer can each be replaced independently rather than as a full system.

Do you supply the sealing rings and clamps? Yes — seal rings, gaskets and clamps are sold separately and we recommend renewing them whenever a joint is opened.
